I have every intention of going thru with this and will do my best to make it work. But, as someone who actually listens to what his peers say, I am leaning towards the model followed here in keeping the place a little more selective in it's membership.

There's ppl I want from this community, and that's it.

We're not selective, that's just it. At least I'm not and as far as I can tell, neither is Ceedub, past a small handful of people who have engaged in activities I don't pretend to be fully appraised of.

I meant what I said about this place being largely self-moderated. I do exceptionally little in terms of oversight, I leave that mostly to those of who you sling your shingle here. Right now we are being raided (after a fashion) by people who are desperate for a trophies to spruik about other places as if it means something. Some of these people are ones you have indicated you would happily have on your forum. I personally have no time for that sort of asinine behaviour which is why I declined your offer of membership and admin.

I don't blame you for misinterpreting the scope of this forum, or what is done to keep it on an even keel in the application of your own interests. This place was never intended to be a hub for activity and the incessant attempts of people you want on your forum to cast it otherwise simply because I happened to be posting here is not a lure. To that end and in light of the shitposting currently taking place, I've upped the time between posts setting, since I'm not overly fond of Benzo styled posts and like it or not, they're coming from one of the people you said you were interested in having at your forum. Let them crosspost that nugget to the other boards, there'll be more than one staff member scratching their head over that "trophy" and questioning not simply the juvenility of those who are giggling over it, but also the judgement of someone who would welcome that kind of poster in their ranks.

Sorry mang, but there it is. What you have to choose from today in the remnants of flametown simply isn't sustainable and in terms of growing a new board, counter productive. All that is happening here is a bunch of supposed adults carrying on like kids in a sandbox - it's doing nothing to swell their own ranks, it sure as hell isn't engaging and truth be told it is precisely why SG hemorrhaged so many posters and MMP outright failed.

Suggest if you really want to regulate any board along the lines of how this place is run, then you do as Ceedub has done; set up something to tinker with at your leisure and have a bare minimum of basic rules that even an imbecile like Benzover can make sense of. Don't bother banning or keeping any white and blacklisted users, simply munge their accounts when they get to acting against the interests of your board and make it clear to them that they are welcome to try again. Don't worry, once they get to realising that it takes them longer to make an account than it does for you to munge it, they'll run off to wherever, crying tears of blood about how they'll not return until some arbitrary condition is met. Like Blandscape did. Making it someone else's problem.

Otherwise you'll just be wasting your time trying to police shit, but if that's your bag, then have at it. I'm just telling you how it's worked for Ceedub and myself. And apart from a few odd hiccups here and there, it's worked flawlessly - we haven't headhunted anyone here, they just showed up as and when they felt like it. If they hadn't, then Ceedub would have had more time to do her tinkering and I'd be largely working my magic over in Agni for the most part. I'll be honest mang, there's very little left I'd be bothered to go chasing, the self styled flamers and trolls of today are far too invested in trolling and not at all interested in exchanging entertaining barbs with their opponents.

That's why Flame Truth does not bother to market itself as a flame forum. There's simply not enough actual flamers about and far too many tards and punchingbags to make it a going concern.

Yeah, well it is what it is. I haven't looked in on BC in a long while now, SG even longer. Too much formula, not enough inspiration. I can already tell you the limited ways this is going to play out and hazard a guess as to what the likeliest of outcomes will be.

BC had it's own way of doing things, that was largely disrupted when certain people sought to harness and weaponize them for the greater glory of what ultimately became SG... and nobody earned a ban for solicitation as far as I can tell. What you're experiencing there is the exact same sort of thing I encountered at The Retard Farm in terms of being held to a far higher standard than the "favoured set" and I can understand your enjoyment at prodding them because I did exactly the same thing to Scoundrel, Vixen, TWAP and THE MOR0N for a good three years. Both The Retard Farm and the Strangledick Emporium have much in common theough MOR0N never handballed his interests off to his sidekicks but stuck it out to the bitter end when poor decisions and outright mismanagement saw him overseeing a political blog that not even the Viagra bots would touch. BC is also different in that they, like Flametruth, did not intend to be a flame forum, but found themselves coerced into being a bastardised form of one by a forum which is apparently so desperate for content they've been copypasting content out of non-flaming forums for months. No points for accurately guessing where that's going to lead them...

if you guest post at bc after a certain hour it will have to be approved first because of mel. i was logged in when a flood of racist posts spammed rejected and then after a refresh they started to vanish, i assume this is a regular thing that happens late night when mel maybe has too much drink. that is why deadzo is no longer guest posting and has a registered account which allows you to ignore his shit. imagine that fuckwit getting angry cause his shitpost had to be approved and did not immediately show up. i not sure the exact time this moderation goes into effect but mel has posted at 3am so he is a night owl.
