    A question for cunty

what's the max MB a video file can be for upload at ft? 10mb?

    #2
I'm not sure of the upper filesize limit, but it's more than 10MB, that much I know. In the previous install of vBulletin attachment sizes would start to fail around the 16.5MB mark, but this version seems to be accepting larger. I seem to recall a couple of ones I uploaded coming closer to 20MB, but I haven't got around to stress testing the software to see where the limit is this time.

The admin panel allows for the setting of larger size limits than the board software can deal with. Ceedub currently has it set to 100MB, but when you were attempting to attach that 64MB file of the right to life protester chimping out at the cops it kept timing out. I'll figure out where the breaking point is and get back to you, also set the limits in the permissions to forbid uploads any larger than the software can comfortably handle so you and others aren't wasting their time with attachment uploads that fail.

Expect a result later in the evening.

The magic number appears to be 25.6MB - keep your file sizes beneath that and you ought to be right.

Do let me know if you run into any problems.

Hmm. How does one get a vid worth peeping scrunched into 25.6MB?

I was testing the Nvidia overlay capture and just recorded 01:28 of my GW2 characters lineup and even after reducing the aspect size by half (960x540) I still had an .mp4 file that weighs in at 101MB. Presuming it was still at 60fps (I'd have to check to be 100% sure but it's a safe bet) halving that would still generate a roughly 50MB file wouldn't it?

It might help to just say: "a 30 second vid at 30fps" rather than using filesize as the target, unless more detailed instructions/tips are forthcoming.

PS5 in game recording will spit out a gigabyte or more. if you wanna do 10 minutes the best is 100 + megs then you can upload that for free at streamable but then it only stays up for around 3 months then vanishes. you would have to use youtube if you want it to stay up until you delete it.

that 30 second desktop companion dance i managed to shrink down so it was able to be uploaded, that was recorded with bandican as you can see in the top of the video. but the orignal size was around 35 meg. but it was compressed without losing any quality

The software does not care what properties your file has. It's criteria are only about filesize. It is heartless and cold. :, (
Work around: Host it yourself before presenting it on this site. I can upload it to the media folder and replace any url originally used, if requested to do so.

              Yah, I get that.
I was hoping for a lifeline of a specific codec or somethin' that would compress a file bunches without much loss in quality.

No worries. I now know what I needed to know; that's what the attempted upload was about. With the possible exception of Mulder I doubt anyone could scrape together a gram of care about what my GW2 characters look like.

I can't get administrative access to my original YouTube account (if I recall it was established with a now-defunct email address and some other irritating reason that couldn't be fixed unless I could log into the account to fix it); I started a new one but I don't want to just upload useless stuff- particularly for the very first submission.

The first time ought to be special, ya know. Heh

I spoke too soon... a lucky guess was all it took to get me back into my original YouTube account.
I recorded another quick lineup vid and it's uploading now.
I was also fiddling with a headset and mic earlier and that's why there's no music or ambient sounds during the lineup... I turned all that noise off while setting the recorded volume of my headset mic and never turned it back up.

Great. Now we can all blame foxy if we don't like it.

You will also find the Youturd offers the easiest "file crunching" codecs in that it will compress the uploaded files significantly without much noticible loss in quality. Vimeo does this too, though i would argue the results look nicer. Additionally you have the option of redownloading the file in different resolutions. The only way I've achieved better file sizes were messing about with h264 and h265 codecs and turning the bitrate right down..

I'm tending to avoid YouTurd stuff these days. Curated content (particularly when you are posting the results in a place like flametown) is an open invite for brigading and the complete suspension of your account. On top of their copyright algorithms and the fact I just dont like the power they wield and think Susan Wojcicki should be smothered in Aunt Jemima syrup and staked to a fire ant mound while viagra crazed wolverines rape her various orifices on livestream with superchats... well, it's kind of a no-brainer that any instance of my using YouTurd runs counter to genuinely held beliefs/ I feel dirty every time I go there and there's increasingly less creators I am prepared to do this for.

They're all fun depending on my mood but Vitriol and Darkroot probably get the most time played on average.
I'll run another char for a while, like Leeloo or Phazor, but I always seem to drift back onto the Revenant or the Ranger.

I'd like to say that was the best 35 seconds in my today experience....
Finally, my subscription to your yt channel is paying off.

                LoL
Since I've got a second account now I'm thinking maybe I'll use it for Blender animations (when I have some) and other artsy stuff.

Any GW2 vids or assorted nonsense will keep going to the original account.
            Working...
